Hello Everyone:) well week 2, and it feels like year 5! haha time goes
by so fast, and so slow, and everywhere in between, ;) but It's
Christmas time, and such a great time of the year that we get to be
around loved ones, and celebrate the birth of our Savior. My little
town has put up Christmas Lights, and little trees everywhere, so it's
definitely beginning to feel like the Holiday Season! :)
This week has been crazy weather here In Collegno....It gets dark
everyday about 5 oclock, and for 4 days straight it rained, so there
was TONS of flooding, and it was crazy! Nevertheless, me and Sorella
Springer put our rain boots on, grabbed our umbrella's, and got to
work. :)
So before I talk about anything else,, I just want to say one thing
first that i learned this week....When we know we have a meal
appointment with a family, we decided that we are just going to eat
very small things throughout the day cause WOWZA THESE CUTE ITALIANS
NEVER STOP EATING!! It's not over at course 3, it goes on till like
course 6 and you literally feel like you might explode. haha and they
are so cute cause I say no no "sto Bene" (I'm fine) and they say okay
okay, and give me more food...oh great;) So one thing I do is when
they aren't looking, I shove food down my skirt, or in my pockets
cause man it's like thanksgiving dinner times 10! lol but they are
just the most giving people, and so so kind.
Something me and SOrella Springer have been doing is everyday, we
learn 5 new random words, and it's awesome:) The language has still
been really hard, I still don't understand much, but One thing I can
do is smile and say hi to people, so I do that and if they want to
talk, Sorella Springer helps me out;) haha This one guy on the bus the
other day said hey thanks for smiling! People don't smile much these
days, and so Everyone, My challenge to you this week...Smile, because
just a smile can change a life:) It's funny cause Also i've noticed
people just stare at us, or read our tags, and hurry and look away, so
then of course we go talk to them, and It's great:) We talk extra loud
on the buses and sometimes people around us will start asking
questions, so it's kinda fun to try new things.
This week for service we went to a members house and made Ornaments
for the ward Christmas party:) It was super fun, and Olga Is the
cutest and makes some yummy apple pie. <3
Me and Sorella Springer are working lots with the ward members and
less actives so we can leave the ward better than we found it, more
united and strong. That is our goal, and really wanting to get the
ward involved in Missionary work, so inviting their friends to come to
church too. :) A little Miracle last night was on our way home from
Zone Conference, We missed our bus, so waited for another one,and we
met this cute lady and her son from Brazil who was so interested in
our church and asking all these questions, and asked us to come meet
with her and her husband. It was so cool, and although we were bummed
about missing our bus, We wouldn't have met her, so everything happens
for a reason right? :)
One other thing that happened, (SUPER EMBARRASSING) Remember last week
how I told you they give Bachi's on the cheeks...well IT HAPPENED...I
went in on the wrong side and almost kissed this grandma on the lips!!
AWEE she was laughing so hard, and said you're new, you'll get a hang
of it...haha it was super funny! :D
At Zone Conference yesterday, our Mission President talked about some
super awesome things, and one being Faith In Jesus Christ as the first
principle of our gospel. It really all comes down to faith in Christ,
cause without the faith, there is no action. Guys without faith, I
would not be here. I would not leave everything behind, If I didn't
have faith that this gospel is true, and that our Savior is real.
Because of Faith, we can do all things through our savior, and it's
not just a belief, but a way we live our life. I have seen this in my
own life, especially here on my mission. My faith in Christ has
helped me get through the hard days when I literally feel like I just
can't do it. Because I have faith, I just go and do, and a quote I
love is, "When you know, and you know that you know, Confidence
replaces fear." So yes it is scary going out and talking to people in
a language I barely know, but because I know what I have faith in, it
helps replace my fear.
Guys I love you, and hope this week you can all think of some things
that maybe you struggle with, or lack in faith, and remember
"Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall
receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive." Enos 1:8,15
Ask god in faith, he will help you:) I promise because he helps me
every single day. <3
I love you guys, and want to thank you for all the support and
prayers<3 Have a great week!
Love Sorella Rindlisbacher
